No more hiding of white patches with our cutting-edge aesthetic treatment.
Widely also known as ‘White Patches’ or ‘Leucoderma’, Vitiligo is an autoimmune, de-pigmentary skin disorder that’s assumed to be affecting about 1% of the world total population. This issue is quite prominent and striking with a mutilating effect on those who are having gloomy skin. Once where Vitiligo was considered to be amongst the top elements behind severe psychological complications, the taboo is now being side-lined, especially at SkinQure which is one of the best clinics in Delhi NCR, offering top-notch services to the patients under the supervision of our expert dermatologist, Dr. Jangid.
Penning down his expertise, Dr. Jangid, one of the best skin specialists in Delhi NCR states that in Vitiligo, the immune system of the body starts attacking the healthy cells, ultimately affecting the body parts. It’s characterized by white patches on the skin, developing as a result of melanocytes within the skin. Since melanocytes are responsible for the color of our skin, white patches start to appear when they get damaged.

As already mentioned in the ‘Vitiligo Treatment’ page, there are two steps of this skin disorder, namely –
- First, the stopping of the progress of the disease.
- Second, the re-pigmentation procedure by phototherapy and surgery.
So as per Dr. Jangid’s expertise, the surgery can be performed after 3-6 months, once the issue is arrested.

Knowing the importance of keeping things transparent to his patients, Dr. Jangid says that the treatment will simply be a helping surgery. Emphasizing on helping surgery, he elaborates that the surgery helps in re-pigmentation by spreading the melanocytes which are the pigment forming cells on the white skin.
Post-surgery, phototherapy is conducted at SkinQure for inducing pigmentation on the white skin. So, do make up your mind that you won’t be getting a normal skin right after the vitiligo surgery.

Punch Grafting: A widely used technique for the surgical treatment of vitiligo, Punch Grafting (PG) deals in combining multiple circular grafts from the donor area, taken with 2-3 mm punches where same sized punches are used from the recipient area for removing the white skin. These donor grafts are placed on the recipient area, after which the dressing is done for the next 7 days. These donor grafts later provide melanocytes to the white skin which is induced by phototherapy.
Success rate – According to a study that included 880 patients showed that 90-100% re-pigmentation was achieved in 74.55% of patients in 2 years’ follow-up period.
Like punch graft, hair grafts are placed over the white skin to achieve color. Hair grafts are taken from the back of neck area. Small 1mm punches are used to take grafts and similar punches are used to take out skin from recipient areas. Phototherapy can be started after 2 weeks of grafting.
Suction and Blister (SBG)
In this technique, a healthy pigmented epidermis (upper layer) is transferred on white skin. The donor skin is prepared for blister formation. The blister is created by suction or negative pressure in the skin with the help of syringes and thus the skin is transferred. Before transferring the epidermis, the recipient’s skin is derma-braded. After grafting, the recipient area is covered with a dressing after which phototherapy can be started after 2 weeks.
Success rate – According to a recent study, suction blister and grafting (SBG) can yield results that vary from good to excellent (65-100% re-pigmentation) in 80% of patients.
Partial Skin Thickness Grafting
Thin skin can be transferred over the patch. The skin is taken from the thigh area and placed over the recipient area.
Suspension of Non-Cultured Epidermal Cells (NECS)
In the non-cultured epidermal cells suspension (NECS), a thin partial-thickness graft is taken from the donor area with the help of a razor blade or a specialized instrument called a dermatome. Then the tissue fragment is incubated at 37°C in a solution that separates the melanocytes and other cells from the epidermis. These cells are then transferred over the derma-braded receptor area.
Melanocytes Culture and Transfer Technique
In this technique, melanocyte cells are cultured and then transferred to the recipient area. One of the good advantages of this technique is in this technique with the help of a small skin fragment, it is possible to obtain sufficient cells to treat large areas.
Success rate – In a recent study, the suspension of cultured cells (SCC) is able to produce more than 90% of re-pigmentation in up to 81.3% of patients.
At SkinQure, under the supervision of our expert dermatologist, Dr. Jangid, the costing for the vitiligo surgery depends on its type, along with the area the surgery is covering.
This surgery is considered effective for small patches, majorly dealing in three steps:
Blister creation – The area is cleaned with betadine. Local numbing injections are given where suctions are created by syringes, taking approximately 2-3 hours.
Recipient site creation – The white patch is derma-braded with a machine along with removing the uppermost layer.
Graft placement – The blisters from the donor area are taken and placed over the recipient site and dressing done. Phototherapy can be started after 2 weeks.
As per Dr. Jangid, one of the best skin specialists in Saket, New Delhi says that it takes 6 months to 2 years to get the best result from surgery. The result may vary from person to person. The usual result varies from 50% to 100%.
